How We Serve

Opportunities to Serve COSD
COSD is an all-volunteer organization. If you have an attraction to serve our contemplative network, please use one of our many ways to contact us or give us your name and phone number on our contact form and we will match your interests with COSD’s needs and put you in touch with the appropriate service team in the following areas:

Centering Prayer Introductory Workshop Program Service Team
Working with the Chapter Coordinator, facilitates the planning and implementation of the Centering Prayer Introductory Workshop and six continuing sessions.

Communication Service Team
Provides any type of communication necessary to inform members, prayer group leaders, leadership and media regarding workshops, speakers and events.

Community Building and Spiritual Enrichment Service Team
Works with the Chapter Coordinator to plan and coordinate special events for the COSD community.

Hospitality Service Team and Registration Service Team
Works with the Chapter Coordinator and the Intro Workshop service team to facilitate the provision of food, beverages, environment and registration for the Centering Prayer Workshop and events planned for the COSD community.

Prison Ministry
A number of COSD members are volunteering in the prisons in San Diego County. One individual on our Prison Outreach team who volunteers at the San Diego Correctional Facility writes, “This ministry is one of the biggest blessings of my life. Volunteering at the facility has helped me deepen my contemplative practice in ways for which I am deeply grateful.” In prison many people start taking God seriously. You may have the grace and the calling to bring God’s word and your experience of Centering Prayer to them.

Donations
Without question, one of the greatest services to our Regional Chapter is helping COSD maintain its financial strength since we have no other means of support other than from those who wish to support our mission through donations. We are a non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible. Please use our Donation Form if you wish to make a donation.

COSD volunteers serve according to Administrative Principle #7 of Contemplative Outreach, Ltd.: “All who provide Contemplative Outreach services do so in consideration of, and in balance with their personal, family, professional responsibilities.”
